The Place

Vida Pura Eco Retreat and Inspiration Land

Pura Vida Eco Resort is located in Costa Vicentina National Park in the South of Portugal , Algarve, A retreat space for wellness and inspiration surrounded by incredible pristine nature.

During the day and especially at night it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop, the nocturnal animals sing their songs and the stream that divides the Algarve and the Alentejo trickles endlessly over the land. You can take great hikes by the river stream and up or down the valley.

Odeceixe Beach is a 1st prize winning beach in the huge Natural Park that surrounds it. The beach is great for surfing, body boarding and sunbathing. At the river side the ocean’s waves are cancelled out and harnesses great opportunity for swimming.

If you want some more movement but not too much you can take a bike, walk or drive to Odeceixe, a little sleepy town but vibrant in summer. Around the area traditionalism is very tangible, agriculture and fishery are one of the main activities. It’s an area where you can still find donkeys ploughing the fields and the fish is served straight from the boat onto your plate.

Living hand in hand with nature is the aim at Vida Pura inspiration land. A project dedicated to self sustainability , electricity is solar and wind generated, they have their own on site farm based on bio dynamic principles and use water harvesting.

Their intention is also to support humanitarian projects around the world both financially and with hands on help . ‘In this way we can do our bit to helping others who devote their lives to selflessly offering aid to others: humans or animals in need’ .

Pura Vida offers the opportunity to us with the care of our beloved animals who all play their role in this rewarding lifestyle. Things like feeding the ducks, chickens & donkeys, finding the eggs, putting the donkeys out, for the extra brave personality you can always join in on the manicuring sessions of the donkeys and there is more. Please inform at the reception what kind of care is going on and we will facilitate the activities.

If you wish to explore some more before or after retreat around Pura Vida are numerous beaches for sunbathing or surfing as well as small towns and villages to explore. From the medieval town of Aljezur, to

The Guest House

Perfectly situated on a hill in a picturesque nature reserve, this large, ecologically-built house grants its occupants sensational views across the valley below — through which flows the famous Seixe river. The guest house villa is specially designed and built with eco bricks, eco paint, and rammed-earth or taipa — an ancient, sustainable building technique. Together with the lake next to it, the great outside area and the National forest immediately accessible for walks or hikes, it ensures the right ingredients for your retreat.

The Guest House rooms offer their own outdoor wooden terrace, facing a big pond where you can see the sun rising and enjoy a nice breakfast whilst listening to the symphony of frogs. It also has another outdoor terrace with a view over the valley and you can enjoy the sunset over the hills. . It’s a great space to enjoy a nice meal, relax in the hammock, read a book or do yoga.

The Apartments

Bamboo Apartment

You’ll  be surrounded by one of natures most natural building materials.

The inspiration for this one-of-a-kind apartment came from the original Portuguese name of the land, ’Moinho das Canas’, which, freely translated, means Cane Mill. As the name suggests, a lot of cane grows here, and we used this material to decorate this apartment.

The use of other natural building materials, such as cork, wood and stone, gives the apartment a truly harmonious feel.

The living area contains a comfy, bespoke sofa, situated near a cosy wood-burner. A tiny oven built into the stove means that, on a cold day, you could even make a fire and cook a cake, should the mood take you.

The windows to the front of the apartment grant an amazing view of the valley and access to a beautiful wooden decking area (more than 30m²), complete with outside shower and plenty of space for lounging, sitting, or doing yoga.

On the other side, we have a tiled outside area – for extra sun exposure in the morning and on windy days. Through this site, you can also access your vehicle’s parking area, located just 30 meters away from the apartment, at the end of a wide, slate-paved path.

Made for max 2 or 3 people (third-person supplement). It has one room with a double bed plus an option for an extra bed in either the sleeping loft or the living room.

Recycle Apartment

As the name suggests, the Recycle Art Apartment has been decorated and furnished with recycled and re-used materials, that have been designed into the apartment in artful way. The design of this wonderfully unique living space brings together a wealth of surprising materials. The bedroom design incorporates a chestnut wooden bed mixed with 18th century carved posts from India. The bathroom has a sink made from an old wine press and the floor is made of slices of pine wood mixed with re-used wine bottle tops. The living tops it off with the sofa made from recycled jeans and in the kitchen a surfboard acts one of the kitchen shelves. There’s much more but best is to come and see it for yourself.
